The life of a mountain man in the American West was one of scarcity, and was continuously plagued with danger.  Every step they took they had to be on the look out for hostile Indians, bad weather, dehydration, unstable rugged terrain, and of course wild and dangerous animals. The risks were high for those who crossed any on that list but encountering more than one at once was certain disaster.  If he survived he was sure to have a great tale to share around the campfire.

With his rifle just out of reach the outcome of this story hangs on by the thin thread of his years of experience and his sheer determination for survival.
