The Gold Rush days brought with it a fever of wealth and prosperity.   Unfortunately only a minority of miners struck it rich.  Many lost everything in the search of that shiny rock.  This sculpture is of just such a man.  He spent all he had on supplies and on purchasing his claim, and after months and months of digging and panning he finally realized there was no gold to be found.  This was the exact moment the horrible realization hit the miner in search of Fool's Gold.
